a (R)evolution

Part I

I recently had a conversation with friend about change. He told me he saw that I was going through an evolution. More like a revolution actually.

It is amazing what a new book...a video...a documentary...etc. can do for a person if you are open to change. My revolution started after a conversation with my mom about the political history of Guatemala. While I knew some of the history of my beautiful country, there were are so many things to learn. This conversation, on a Sunday afternoon (I'm pretty sure it was a Sunday) has led to hours of research, documentary watching, reading and discussion.

At this point, it is all in my head. I feel as though my brain (and heart) might burst from information overload. I want to share it all, for the whole world to know the injustices, the cruelty, the horrors that people have had to endure. But sharing isn't enough. I NEED to do something. For now, all I can do is unload it here. And I will.

Part II

I try to live by a certain code of conduct. I always try to follow a few key things, which have yet to steer me wrong. For some time I have felt like I needed to share them with people other than my closer circle of friends. My friend suggested I write a book and make some money...wouldn't that be nice? But really, I have never aspired to be a writer. I do, however, feel like these life lessons should be shared. And I will.
